11th Bipartite Settlement - First Negotiation Meeting, IBA and Bank Unions

First Call by IBA to Bank's Union for 11th Bipartite Settlement Talk. The Indian Banks' Association ( IBA) has invited the bank unions for initiating the negotiations for the next wage settlement in the banking industry. 

Talks between IBA and the bank unions under the banner of United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) were held at Mumbai on May 2. The general secretary of , All India Bank Employees Association (AIBEA) C H Venkatachalam stated that. 

He also added that it was just a curtsy meet or "formal introductory" exercise. The format negotiation will start from next meetings.

Rajeev Rishi, Chairman of IBA, was the head of 11th Bipartite negotiation talks from the management side.




AIBEA wanted to have 11th Bipartite settlement on time unlike 10th Bipartite settlement which was settled after 3 years.

AIBEA demanded that Salary wages should be competitive as per the industry standard and commensurate with the increased work load in banks of late.

10 industry level bipartite settlements have been signed by IBA with the bank unions since 1966. 

The 10th bipartite settlement on wage revision was settled for 10 lakh bank employees and officers. The next wage revision is due from November 2017.


There are 43 banks in Public Sector, Private Sector and foreign banks will be covered by the 11th Bipartite settlement. Most of the banks have already authorized the IBA to discuss with the unions on their behalf.

Other than AIBEA , there are four Officers Associations which already have given a separate set of common demands and five workman unions have also submitted a common charter.
